Background and Methodology of the Deoband Seminary

This humble servant offers the greeting of Islam before this esteemed audience. Allah – Exalted is He – preserve you. We have sensed from you signs of nobility and interest in our condition. We feel an Islamic uprising turning towards us and you, and indeed we are needier of you than you are of us. These are my teachers, my elders and my treasures before Allah in my day and my morrow. They asked me to extend gratitude to you for your generosity and for...

The Accusation of Irja’ against Imam Abu Hanifah

A questioner asked me about the statement of the Imam of the Path, the Pole of Reality, Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jaylani (Allah Most High be pleased with him and give him satisfaction) in Ghuniyyat al-Talibin when mentioning the sects that will not attain salvation where he divided the Murji'ah into twelve sects, and one of them were the Hanafis. He gained admission into the Madrasah of Deoband when it was founded in 1283 AH /1866 CE, and studied under Mawlana Muhammad Ya'qub ibn Mamluk 'Ali...

To make something halal or haram is exclusively the work of Allah Most High and He is unique in this. This is purely His right; no one else is involved in this process in any manner. Neither does anyone have this power in essence nor has Allah relegated this power to anyone.

Inner Dimensions of the Fast

You should know that sometimes a person comprehends, due to God's inspiring him with this knowledge, that his physical animalistic form is keeping him from what would constitute his fulfillment in terms of it's obeying the angelic side. Therefore he comes to detest the animalistic side and seeks to shatter its force. He won't find anything that helps him to do this as much as hunger, thirst, forswearing sex, and practicing vigilance over his tongue, heart, and limbs. Persistence in this is a cure...
